Restore the Two-Thirds; a Freedom Foundation Petition

All hands on deck!  It’s time to get the grassroots, common sense people to let the will of the people be heard.  The Freedom Foundation has posted an online petition demanding our political leaders to “Restore the Two-Thirds,” requirement to raise taxes and make it permanent. 

All it takes to effect change is to raise our voices in unison for a common cause.  Washington State has increased spending above revenue projections far too long and now, due to an activist State Supreme Court (elections do have consequences) the will of the people (64% of them) has been subverted.  Since Initiative 601, the voters have passed the two-thirds requirement five times.  Each time it passes with an even greater majority than the last one.  It’s time to send the message straight to Olympia that We the People have spoken and no less than a State Constitutional Amendment requiring the two-thirds vote of the House and Senate will do.

The State Supreme Court just made it a lot easier for the legislature to raise your taxes—and we know they’re going to try.
Washington voters have repeatedly (6 times) and overwhelmingly (64% in 2012) voted to require a super-majority vote for the legislature to increase taxes or fees. Yet six State Supreme Court justices sided with special interests to strike down this law.
Some politicians claim tax hikes are essential just to support basic services. It’s an outright lie. State revenue for the next budget is projected to be $2 billion more than in the last budget, yet politicians say it’s not enough. In fact, revenue has consistently increased over time. Washington State don’t have a revenue problem—we have a spending problem.
Let’s tell Olympia, loud and clear, that we don’t need more taxes.

Woodward Questions White House Sanity over Sequester

President Obama mocked politician’s who manufacture crisis's, in his State of the Union address. How many times have I heard the President cry wolf?  Even if the sky were falling, or the big bad wolf were at my door, I do not believe I would believe it to be true.  In truth the sequester agreement is not a cut in the federal budget.  Sequester is a reduction in the growth of federal spending and a very small reduction at that.  If this fact doesn’t bother you, possibly this one will.  POTUS has the ultimate say in what federal program receives less federal revenue for their budget.

Let’s imagine for one minute what that might look like in a real world.  Consider this; you’ve at the grocery store to buy food for the week and you usually spend $100.00 to cover your costs.  You believed you were getting an 8% raise, so you increased your food budget by 8% (that’s an extra $8.00) and you planned for $108.00 in buying power.  But, then your raise was reduced to 6%, you’ve now adjusted your food budget to $106.00.  You now have a few choices to make about your food purchasing choices.  If you’ve already made a grocery list that uses the full $108.00 and you choose what items not to purchase from your list, based on your priorities.  Or, you can buy everything that is on your list, looking for them to be on sale or a find a coupon to reduce the costs.  Or, better yet, you access your preferred media resource to do comparison shopping and learn where, or what other brands, are available at reduced costs.

When faced with difficult choices a leader knows how to make a plan, prioritize and implement it.  The Obama Administration, with the complicit help of the mainstream media, we are bombarded with one crisis to the next and I refuse to be Chicken Little, or Henny Penny screeching, “the sky is falling, the sky is falling!”

Winston Churchill once said; “The difference between a politician and a statesman is; a politician is always thinking about how to get elected and consolidate power.  The statesman is focused on what’s best for the nation.”

It’s time for We the People to start electing statesmen who will speak the truth and make the choices needed to rebuild the publics trust in government.

BOB WOODWARD: A 'Very Senior' White House Person Warned Me I'd 'Regret' What I'm Doing

Bob Woodward said this evening on CNN that a "very senior person" at the White House warned him in an email that he would "regret doing this," the same day he has continued to slam President Barack Obama over thelooming forced cuts known as the sequester.

CNN host Wolf Blitzer said that the network invited a White House official to debate Woodward on-air, but the White House declined.

"It makes me very uncomfortable to have the White House telling reporters, 'You're going to regret doing something that you believe in,'" Woodward said. "I think they're confused," Woodward said of the White House's pushback on his reporting.

Earlier today on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," Woodward ripped into Obama in what has become an ongoing feud between the veteran Washington Post journalist and the White House. Woodward said Obama was showing a "kind of madness I haven't seen in a long time" for a decision not to deploy an aircraft carrier to the Persian Gulf because of budget concerns.  Click here to read the full story.

Obama Sandy aid bill filled with holiday goodies unrelated to storm damage

Vics suffer as $60B aid plan gets porked up

WASHINGTON — President Obama’s $60.4 billion request for Hurricane Sandy relief has morphed into a huge Christmas stocking of goodies for federal agencies and even the state of Alaska, The Post has learned.

The pork-barrel feast includes more than $8 million to buy cars and equipment for

the Homeland Security and Justice departments. It also includes a whopping $150

million for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to dole out to fisheries in Alaska and $2 million for the Smithsonian Institution to repair museum roofs in DC.

An eye-popping $13 billion would go to “mitigation” projects to prepare for future storms.

After the 2012 Presidential Election, the actions of an overt and zealous administrations is set to pump-up the adrenalin.  To finish the work of FDR, Wilson, Johnson and Obama.  Yes, I know that there have been many Republicans that have capitulated to the progressive move towards collectivism.  The go along – to get along has been an abysmal mistake on the part of many.

Big Government + Big Promises = Big Problems

Everyday we fail to get honest answers on how the federal, state, counties and cities are going to come up with the funds to pay out all of the unfunded, mandated promises of future pension payments.

There is only one real solution to this problem and that is to stop making promises we cannot afford to keep!  If we the people insist that our elected public servants stop increasing the level of public spending beyond the tax payers ability to pay, remove the mandates to pay prevailing union scale wages, start privatizing as much government services as quickly as we can; maybe we can avoid the upcoming. fiscal train-wreck, headed our way.

Exclusive: Study shows $1.2 trillion gap for public pensions

(Reuters) - The largest 100 public pension funds have around $1.2 trillion of unfunded liabilities, about $300 billion above the nearly $900 billion they reported themselves, according to a new actuarial study to be released on Monday.

The pension systems reported a median funding level of 75.1 percent. The study by the actuarial firm Milliman, which used different ways to value assets and measure liabilities, finds an aggregate level of funding of 67.8 percent.

But Milliman, one of the world largest actuarial firms took a close look at U.S. public pension funding for the first time, and said the multibillion-dollar difference was good news.

Rebecca Sielman, the report's author, said results should reassure the public that America's public pensions in general are accurately reporting their funding shortfalls.

The difference between what public pensions across the United States have reported and what Milliman found wasn't significant, Sielman said. She noted that a relatively small change in the way the figures are calculated could lead to seemingly outsized results because the funds are so large.

"The numbers really didn't change that much," she said. "It really didn't move the needle."

Both the pension funds' reported results and Milliman's findings fell within the range of previous estimates from other studies of the total size of the public pension shortfall in the United States.

With the study, Milliman, stepped into the debate about whether public pensions are underreporting the size of their liabilities.  (Click here to read the full story)

WA public transit agencies spent $12.6 billion in last five years

April 12, 2012

King County Executive Dow Constantine wants drivers to pay even higher taxes and fees to not only reinvest in the roads they drive on, but to also subsidize mass transit.

In a statement released yesterday, Constantine says the following,

"Despite having the votes and bipartisan support for 'local-option' bills to allow counties to ask voters for desperately-needed transit and road revenues, lawmakers failed to bring those bills to the floor.

The bills would have created local options for cities and counties to raise transportation related taxes and fees. With the exception of the gas tax, those taxes and fees would have been used to subsidize mass transit.

There are two big problems with Constantine’s argument. Public transit is not underfunded and the new taxes and fees would have been unfairly paid by a single user group; drivers.

All transportation taxes and fees paid by drivers should be used for highway purposes only, while alternative travel modes should be funded by their own users (which reduces the public subsidy) or through local options that apply to the general public, like sales taxes.

Tea Party proposes Budget for US Senate; Schumer & Reid shut them off

Yesterday, FreedomWorks.org had scheduled a hearing for the United States Senate to address the work done by members of FreedomWorks.org.  They requested this hearing to propose cuts for the Federal budget that would receive support from Tea Party supporters, nationwide.  There were $9.7 trillion dollars in cuts proposed, for the U.S. Senate to consider.  This hearing was shut down by Senator Schumer (D-NY)and Senate Speaker Harry Reid (D-NV).  They wouldn’t even allow “the People”, who had traveled from afar, to present their finding to the Senate, at the seat of “the People”.

Senator Lee (R-UT) led the group to a nearby facility at Hillsdale College, where they were then able to speak to the Senators who walked with the FreedomWorks.org group, and listen to the presentation being brought forth by “the People”.

Think “Solyndra” is a freak example of “Pay to Play”? Think again!

Looking over emails and news hi-lights, I like to peruse the comments for links to related articles that didn’t make it to the headlines of the mainstream media.  The article posted below I found interesting, and wanted to share with you.  The original article was about the 2012 Continuing Resolution, of which the Republican House has stripped further funding for activities like Solyndra.  The comment section contained a link to this article on “Abound Solar”, Colorado’s own Solyndra.

The Republican’s in Congress have cut further energy underwriting with your tax dollars, to offset the additional funds needed for 2012 and FEMA.  Wasn’t the selling point of the agreed upon 2011 CR, that any increased, future spending, was to be offset with an equal dollar in spending cuts?

Be sure to contact your Republican or Democrat, Congressman and/or Senator, to show your support for principled representation in politics, such as the 2012 Congressional version for Continuing Resolution.  The few jobs created for an average cost of $300,000.00 per job in the “green economy’”, isn’t due to it’s environmental superiority, it is due to the number of “Benjamin’s”, it’s bringing to private businesses and public Universities to nudge society ever closer to the brink of economic collapse.  The public/private compacts that have contributed to the demise of real free markets, continue to be politically accepted and are a stark example of the public’s tolerance for fiscal malfeasance, in their hopes of getting some of that “free” money.

Counting the Democrat Bodies Involved in a Taxpayer-Guaranteed Loan

By now it’s obvious that the Solyndra scandal never should have happened.  It’s not even a case of Monday morning quarterbacking. A number of people involved could see the disaster coming.

There is a larger principle here. Government should not use taxpayer money to socialize risk while privatizing profits. Examples such as Colorado-based Abound Solar, which received a $400 million loan guarantee, prove that crony capitalism simply rewards the well connected at taxpayer expense.

Abound Solar

Abound Solar, according to its Web site, “produces next-generation thin-film cadmium telluride solar modules” and “is committed to reducing the cost of solar electricity to levels competitive with fossil fuels.”

It is the brainchild of former Colorado State University (CSU)Professor W.S. Sampath and two former students Kurt Barth and Al Enzenroth.  It began as AVA Solar and then incorporated into Abound in 2007.

The Web site says it employs 350 people in three Colorado locations.  Its Colorado manufacturing plant is located in Weld County, which granted Abound up to $100,000 per year for the next ten years in business property tax rebates.  According to sources, the reason for the rebate was job creation intended to benefit Weld County residents. Yet when officials and interested parties ask how many of the 350 jobs have gone to Weld County residents, the solar company does not answer.

Currently Abound has a manufacturing capacity of 65 megawatts expanding to 850 megawatts – at some point. However, in 2010 it manufactured only 30 megawatts. One wonders, if Abound can produce more, why doesn’t it? Click to read full story.

What if?

What if the goal of a “New World Order” or “Global Governance” wasn’t the imagination of conspiracy theorist(s)?  What if instead of independent, caldrons of ideas and economic experiments, the world was made-up of a global, top down oligarchy?  What if too big to fail, failed?

It was the intent of the Framers of the U.S. Constitution that the States remain independent of each other to safeguard the “free markets”, to allow each State to respond as needed for the needs of their residents in the most efficient and creative manner possible.  To prevent the States from unifying for anything other than their safety and economic benefit, was clearly understood by the Framers.

So what harm could happen to the citizen’s of the United States as our local representatives saunter down the path of “Sustainable Development”?  Now remember that when the term sustainable development is used, it not only refers to the development of buildings, roads, farms and transportation corridors.  Sustainable development refers to the ‘3’ E’s; Environment, Economy and Equity .  Since Agenda 21’s goal is a global unification of the ‘3’ E’s, is it logical to take it to the next step that this top down, global structure could become the nirvana it’s promised to be?  Or, is it more reasonable to believe that a top down, global oligarchy (that which Hayek warned against) will inevitably fail in a magnificent catastrophe?  That it will cause the massive death and destruction of human life, leaving humanity in shambles, left to tyrants and/or patriots to rebuild itself?  Well, that story remains to play itself out and until it does, it’s my belief that patriots will always rebuild the world the way the Framers envisioned.

So why did I ramble on this way?  The first article represents what should’ve happened in response to the “too big to fail” scenario of 2008.  The second article is what I believe will continue to happen if our elected representatives follow the goals of Agenda 21.

Tea Party Message to D.C., “Clean-up Your Room!”

A recent conversation with a friend consisted of:

“Don’t you think the Tea Party has kinda screwed things up between the Democrats and Republicans?  They used to be able to work things out between each other and now they can’t.”

“The Tea Party screwed things up?  The Tea Party didn’t exist while the D’s and R’s created the financial fiasco that’s headed straight for the American taxpayer.  A better description of what’s happening is that the Tea Party adults have come into the bedroom of the D’s and R’s, pulled out all of the unpaid bills from under the mattresses, beds, rugs, stuck in toy boxes and any place they could think of to put them out of sight and told the children to clean their rooms!”

Well after that rant I’d like to share this horrific article of what has led and continues to lead this nation into the greatest potential depression ever known.  This is not just a problem for our nation, it’s going to be a global problem.  Come to think of it, that’s partly how we got here, isn’t it?  This article comes courtesy of “The Onion” and I wish to warn you that Bernanke is finally speaking the truth even if it isn’t pretty.

Drunken Ben Bernanke Tells Everyone At Neighborhood Bar How Screwed U.S. Economy Really Is

The intoxicated Federal Reserve chairman informs bar patrons of the dangers of reckless spending.

SEWARD, NE—Claiming he wasn't afraid to let everyone in attendance know about "the real mess we're in," Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke reportedly got drunk Tuesday and told everyone at Elwood's Corner Tavern about how absolutely fucked the U.S. economy actually is.

Bernanke, who sources confirmed was "totally sloshed," arrived at the drinking establishment at approximately 5:30 p.m., ensconced himself upon a bar stool, and consumed several bottles of Miller High Life and a half-dozen shots of whiskey while loudly proclaiming to any patron who would listen that the economic outlook was "pretty goddamned awful if you want the God's honest truth."

"Look, they don't want anyone except for the Washington, D.C. bigwigs to know how bad shit really is," said Bernanke, slurring his words as he spoke. "Mounting debt exacerbated—and not relieved—by unchecked consumption, spiraling interest rates, and the grim realities of an inevitable worldwide energy crisis are projected to leave our entire economy in the shitter for, like, a generation, man, I'm telling you."

(There was an article published by the NY Times in 2007, which elaborates on this project.  The article never mentions that this housing and subsidy program includes “illegal-noncitizens”, but it does reference the paid for landscape maintenance and language barriers due to the foreigners inability to speak English.)

2011 Washington State Legislature Wrap-up: Olympia Weekly from “EFF”

The Washington State Legislature has finalized the 2011 budget and “The Evergreen Freedom Foundation” is weighing in with their opinion of the results of the Washington State 2011 legislative budget.  There are no surprise's with increased spending on top of lower revenue projections for the next 2 – 3 years.  Representative Overstreet described this best at his Lynden Town Hall back in February of 2011; “We’ve been given a bucket (mandates) and it’s empty (funds) of which we’ve been asked to create a budget from.”

Change We Can Believe In?

With the advent of Rahm Emanuel’s swearing in as the new Mayor of Chicago, IL, I must ask this question; “Why are there no protests when Democrats speak the truth, but massive media attention and protests when Republicans, or conservatives deliver the same message?”

Please do not misunderstand me.  I believe that in order to save “America” and the “U.S. Constitution”, there must be dramatic change in the size and scope of “all” government.  Services that have been taken over by public entities and paid for with tax dollars must be turned back over to the private sector.  Of those services, the ones that survive will do so because there is a market need for them.  Those services mandated by federal and state constitutions, city and county charters, through their original intent, must be maintained at sustainable levels by the people.

The overt regulation of services and mandates for health insurance, LEED certified building, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Pension plans and all of the moral, yet unauthorized and unsustainable parts of human life that government has interjected itself into, have created an untenable instability to our nation.  I believe this debt and instability can only be cured by strict adherence to the principles that created this great Nation.  I am not saying that in a perfect world those ideals aren’t admirable.  What I am saying is that by allowing a government to have the power to pick and choose standards, and to tax or regulate humans to live by their standards (standards that only individuals can freely choose by free will), “never” will such a moral and humane society exist.  Governments’ using power to force the standards of their choosing, and the manner in which those standards are delivered, to those that government deems deserving, has stepped the United States ever closer to the tyranny that our Founding Fathers gave their lives to free us from.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel took the oath of office Monday amid sunshine, children’s choirs and a billion-dollar deficit he says he must tame.

“Our city’s financial situation is difficult and profound. We cannot ignore these problems a day longer,” Emanuel told thousands of people gathered in the Frank Gehry-designed Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park — which Mayor Daley spent $475 million to build.

Vice-President Joe Biden, cabinet members, celebrities and clergy looked on as Emanuel delivered the bitter tonic with a spoonful of optimism:

“I have been clear about the hard truths and tough choices we face: We simply can’t afford the size of city government that we had in the past,” Emanuel said. “It’s not just a matter of doing more with less. We must look at every aspect of city government and ask some basic questions: Can we afford it? Is it worth it? Do we need it?”

Chicago is facing an annual structural deficit of $1.2 billion including unfunded pension liabilities.

In a multicultural, ecumenical inaugural pageant that featured performances by Chicago’s children, Emanuel pledged to better educate them and keep them safer.

“I fully understand there will be those who oppose our efforts to reform our schools, to cut costs and to make government more effective,” Emanuel said. “Some are sure to say, ‘This is the way we do things — we can’t try something new. Those are the rules — we can’t change them.’ ... So when I ask for new policies, I guarantee, the one answer I will not tolerate is: ‘We’ve never done it that way before.’ Chicago is the city of ‘yes we can’ not ‘No we can’t.’ ”

“Is Whatcom County flush with cash?”

Please take a moment to look over the boondoggle on the wish list of the Whatcom County Council.  If only the County (that means me and You) can convince a few good politicians to support us in these purchases we can all go home happy in having completed a good days work.  The problem is this, we’ve been told by, the County, the City, the State and the Federal government that we’re broke!  The problem is that every year they say they’ve cut spending when all they’ve done is reduce the amount of their planned spending increase, which they want us to believe is a “cut”.  The problem is that the County, the City, the State and the Federal government are raising taxes where they can, or adding fees where they shouldn’t, which takes away the fruits of labor from everyone as we are forced to pay these taxes and fees at ever increasing and unsustainable amounts.  The answer is that “We the People” must stay connected and involved.  “We the People” must raise our voices and demand to be heard.  “We the People” must research the candidates and vote for the person who has a track record for doing what they say they will do for “We the People” that is fiscally sound and constitutionally legal.
