I Shall Miss You “Andrew Breitbart” ~ You shined the light of truth for what Journalism was and could be again.

Andrew Breitbart lived a life worth living by committing himself to shine the light of journalistic truth for the public to see.  I did not know that Mr. Breitbart suffered from heart damage.  It is my sincerest hope that he left us in a bursting, blaze of light, to heaven’s cradling arms.  Rest peacefully, Mr. Breitbart, knowing that you gave more of yourself to the “common good” than any other journalist of your time.

With a terrible feeling of pain and loss we announce the passing of Andrew Breitbart.

Andrew passed away unexpectedly from natural causes shortly after midnight this morning in Los Angeles.

We have lost a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a dear friend, a patriot and a happy warrior.

Andrew lived boldly, so that we more timid souls would dare to live freely and fully, and fight for the fragile liberty he showed us how to love.

Andrew recently wrote a new conclusion to his book, Righteous Indignation:

I love my job. I love fighting for what I believe in. I love having fun while doing it. I love reporting stories that the Complex refuses to report. I love fighting back, I love finding allies, and—famously—I enjoy making enemies.

Three years ago, I was mostly a behind-the-scenes guy who linked to stuff on a very popular website. I always wondered what it would be like to enter the public realm to fight for what I believe in. I’ve lost friends, perhaps dozens. But I’ve gained hundreds, thousands—who knows?—of allies. At the end of the day, I can look at myself in the mirror, and I sleep very well at night.

Andrew is at rest, yet the happy warrior lives on, in each of us.

This short video is the best illustration of the the dis-similarities of the Tea Partiers and the Occupiers.

Tea Party supporters believe that individual responsibility has been replaced with a big government nanny, who pretends to be able to provide a utopian existence for everyone.  The Tea Party solution is to “cut” government spending, reduce taxes, reduce regulation and unleash the entrepreneurial spirit that thrives in all human beings. When this spirit is allowed to grow and flourish it feeds the ability for anyone to reach as far as they desire to.

Occupy supporters believe that society has failed to provide a big enough safety net to fulfill the dreams of everyone, because the “greedy” do not give enough back to the society that made them rich.  The Occupy solution is to “increase” government spending, increase taxes, and create more regulation. They believe the prevention of an individual from attaining too much prosperity, enforces things to remain “equal” for everyone, regardless of effort and risk. This belief is that equal outcomes will create social justice for all.

How do you spell, “Too big to fail”?  You decide…History has shown that one of these approaches always works and the other always fails.  The common problem for both movements is government.  The solution is as different as night and day.  Constant interference by the government through taxation, fees, and regulation, has created a loss of the individuals right to use their property for pursuit of prosperity for themselves and their family, In retrospect, government has grown so big, so fast, and now has so much debt, even the wealthy cannot repay all that debt.

The only similarity these two movements have is that they both realize that the political system has broken down and become something unrecognizable to the vision of the Our Founders.

What Country has No Greed?

Time to post more positive truth.  As Donahue pushes Dr. Freidman about the supposed greed of capitalism, Dr. Friedman responds with common sense.  “Greed?  Tell me what Country does not suffer from the immorality of greed?  Capitalism is the only economic model that affords anyone the opportunity, in a free market, to reach as far as they can if they’re willing to work for it.”

Does Mitt Romney Have What It Will Take?

Okay! I know!  I know!  Governor Romney is currently best known for Romney care, giving in (or dropping out of) the 2008 Presidential race.  But, he is best known for rescuing the 2002 Salt Lake City, Utah, Olympics.  So, because of his leadership role in that, I spent the time to read this opinion written by the former Governor of Massachusetts.  After reading this piece, it felt that I could have written it myself…only there are no national publications seeking my opinion.  It really does not matter to me who gets that kind of credit.  The only thing that matters to me is, whomever is elected in 2011 and 2012, to local, state and national positions of public representation, must possess the attitude and passion to enact what former Gov. Romney: On jobs, where is Obama?

Sometimes truth arrives from the most unexpected sources. Christina Romer, President Obama's former chair of the White House Council of Economic Advisors, said last week that she was dismayed at Washington's lack of focus on jobs.

"I frankly don't understand why policymakers aren't more worried about the suffering of real families," Romer said. "We need to realize that there is still a lot of devastation out there." She called the 8.9% unemployment rate "an absolute crisis."

How bad is it? Last week, in the blue-collar community of Taunton, Mass., the annual jobs fair was canceled because not enough companies came forward to offer jobs.

Defining Deviancy Down was the title of Daniel Patrick Moynihan's seminal account of how American society came to condone previously stigmatized conditions and behavior. Moynihan focused on the growing acceptance of the deinstitutionalization of the mentally ill, the expansion of single-parent families and the violence in inner cities. To his examples, we can now add joblessness.

Last year, unemployment averaged a shocking 9.6%. The previous year, at 9.3%, was only marginally better. So far in 2011, it has fallen to 8.9%. A consensus has emerged among some economists and politicians that we must accept historically high levels of unemployment over the next several years. Best case forecasts see a range between 7.5% and 8%.

Faces of despair

Even 7.5% unemployment means 11.5 million Americans without jobs. The human cost of that dry statistic can be detailed in a canvas of broken hopes and shattered lives. Workers at job fairs today …
