November 2nd, 2010, is fast upon us.  This message from Dr. Thomas Sowell is powerful and I implore you to listen to all ‘5’ chapters and to share them with as many of your friends as you can.  The direction of the United States based on a political shift from free market, capitalism, to social justice, progressivism, will lead take United States rapidly to mediocrity.

Listen, enjoy, understand and share these clips with your friends, family and neighbors.

Glenn Beck Speaks at “Restoring Honor Rally”

I watched the rally from beginning to end.  This is what I heard and have taken away from the rally:

.."This great Nation is only great when we stand together, with God's grace, to live for and up to the Divine Providence all humans are blessed with".
It has always been within our power to be great. Thank you to Glenn Beck and all of the facilitators of this event, to remind us of this simple message.

George Soros slashes exposure to US equities

With friends like George Soros and the multitude of anti-American organizations he’s subsidized; “Who Needs Enemies?”

Yours In Truth  ;-)  Shelly

George Soros has slashed the amount of money he is willing to gamble on the fortunes of the US stock market in the second quarter as market volatility increased.

George Soros' fund has approximately $25bn under management

The legendary investor's Soros Fund Management – which has approximately $25bn (£16bn) under management – reduced its equity investments by 42pc to $5.1bn by the end of June, down from $8.8bn at the end of March.

The asset allocation decisions were made during a period in which the Standard & Poor's 500 index – the broadest US equity index – fell 12pc.

The fact that Mr Soros – best known as the man reputed to have made $1bn by "breaking the Bank of England" during the 1992 fiscal crisis – has decided to make such a concerted shift out of equities will send a clear message to other investors.

Gone are Soros's investments in Petrobras, Brazil's oil giant, with investments in bellwether stocks such as Wal-Mart, JP Morgan Chase and Pfizer drastically reduced, cut by 99pc, 97pc and 95pc respectively.

Of those equities that do remain, the fund's holding in a gold exchange traded fund constitutes his largest investment, some 13pc of the equity portfolio, worth $638m.

Although neither Mr Soros of his fund typically do not explain their quarterly investment decisions, it is likely some of the money has been shifted into government bonds, as well as investing in commodities and other safe havens.

The quarterly report – filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission – details investments only in US-traded shares and related derivatives, and the fund does not have to detail overseas shares or cash or commodities held.

Intel CEO: U.S. faces looming tech decline

This story has been going on for the past 50 years.  Through the false guise of humanity we have been led to believe that it is more important to learn and understand the life cycle of the salmon from frye to fish, than it is to understand the life cycle of a human from birth to death.  Humans have an innate drive to survive and if left to their own resources they will do so.  Education is right to remind us that within this will to survive we must maintain moral integrity, in order to survive as a society.  The fault here is that this has become about nature above humans and our natural rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of property through work.  This article epitomizes that philosophy.

  • ASPEN, Colo.--Intel Chief Executive Officer Paul Otellini offered a depressing set of observations about the economy and the Obama administration Monday evening, coupled with a dark commentary on the future of the technology industry if nothing changes.

Otellini's remarks during dinner at the Technology Policy Institute's Aspen Forum here amounted to a warning to the administration officials and assorted Capitol Hill aides in the audience: unless government policies are altered, he predicted, "the next big thing will not be invented here. Jobs will not be created here."

Intel CEO Paul Otellini, who warned this week that the U.S. faces a huge tech decline.

Intel CEO Paul Otellini, who warned this week that the U.S. faces a huge tech decline.

The U.S. legal environment has become so hostile to business, Otellini said, that there is likely to be "an inevitable erosion and shift of wealth, much like we're seeing today in Europe--this is the bitter truth."

Not long ago, Otellini said, "our research centers were without peer. No country was more attractive for start-up capital...We seemed a generation ahead of the rest of the world in information technology. That simply is no longer the case."

The phenomenon of technology executives advancing dismal predictions and offering pointed critiques of Washington politicking isn't new, of course.

For instance: In 2005, midway through the Bush administration, Microsoft's Bill Gates told a Washington audience that curbs on immigration and guest workers would provide a boost to research institutions in China and India. A year earlier, then-Intel CEO Craig Barrett warned that the U.S. must dramatically improve its education system.

That never happened. Nor did politicians follow Gates' advice to rethink laws that led to foreign engineers being kicked out of the country as soon as they finish their degrees.

And now, six years later with no significant reforms, it should come as no surprise that the predictions have become more dire.

Deep in a 'Do' loop
Otellini singled out the political state of affairs in Democrat-dominated Washington, saying: "I think this group does not understand what it takes to create jobs. And I think they're flummoxed by their experiment in Keynesian economics not working."

Since an unusually sharp downturn accelerated in late 2008, the Obama administration and its allies in the U.S. Congress have enacted trillions in deficit spending they say will create an economic stimulus but have not extended the Bush tax cuts and have pushed to levy extensive new health care and carbon regulations on businesses.

"They're in a 'Do' loop right now trying to figure out what the answer is," Otellini said.

As a result, he said, "every business in America has a list of more variables than I've ever seen in my career." If variables like capital gains taxes and the R&D tax credit are resolved correctly, jobs will stay here, but if politicians make decisions "the wrong way, people will not invest in the United States. They'll invest elsewhere."

Take factories. "I can tell you definitively that it costs $1 billion more per factory for me to build, equip, and operate a semiconductor manufacturing facility in the United States," Otellini said.

The rub: Ninety percent of that additional cost of a $4 billion factory is not labor but the cost to comply with taxes and regulations that other nations don't impose. (Cypress Semiconductor CEO T.J. Rodgers elaborated on this in an interview with CNET, saying the problem is not higher U.S. wages but antibusiness laws: "The killer factor in California for a manufacturer to create, say, a thousand blue-collar jobs is a hostile government that doesn't want you there and demonstrates it in thousands of ways.")

Congressman Rick Larsen uses Saul Alinsky tactics

In the true Alinsky-ites way; Congressman Rick Larsen has used spliced and fabricated video to create a video ad for the web and TV which portrays his challenger, John Koster of Arlington, WA, as a racists for his support of the Tea Party message.  One such message is the mission statement of the Bellingham Tea Party;
“To reverse deficit spending and the concentration of power in central government, in order to preserve states’ rights and individual liberty for future generations.”
The Bellingham Tea Party is a non-profit, non-partisan grassroots organization that does not endorse any political party or candidate.  Its official website is:   http://www.bhamteaparty.org/
Today the Bellingham Tea Party sent out a press release which briefly stated says:
“On August 3, 2010, the Citizens to Elect Rick Larsen released a highly dishonest ad1 in an attempt to shamelessly denigrate the Tea Party movement as a whole.   By doing so, we can only conclude that this campaign chose to personally and publicly insult thousands of citizens in Washington State’s U.S. Congressional District 2 for personal and political advantage.  The purpose of the ad was clearly intended to dishonor a candidate opposing the Congressman, using “guilt by association” tactics.   As an organization, the Bellingham Tea Party will not stand by and be used in such a reprehensible way without a response.
We urge journalists everywhere to independently research and acknowledge the fact that this ad features the photograph of a billboard in Des Moines, Iowa, and attempts to convey extremely negative symbolism by including many photographs with Confederate flags that were displayed by a Civil War history reenactment group in a 4th of July parade in Snohomish County.  We believe that these images, among many others of unknown origin, were portrayed with the deliberate intent to mislead the voters of Congressman Larsen’s district about local Tea Party attitudes and stated principles.
To understand the true malevolence of this tactic I have pasted a brief description of Alinsky tactics which believe that the ends justify the means:  The following description was found in Wikipedia here.  The tactics used by Congressman Larsen are clearly exposed by this expose done by Fox News on dishonest political ads:  Congressman Rick Larsen of Washington State uses false images to smear opponent.
Continuing in the prologue Alinsky writes:
"What I have to say in this book is not the arrogance of unsolicited advice. It is the experience and counsel that so many young people have questioned me about through all-night sessions on hundreds of campuses in America. It is for those young radicals who are committed to the fight, committed to life."
In the first chapter's opening paragraph, Alinsky writes,
"What follows is for those who want to change the world from what it is to what they believe it should be. The Prince was written by Machiavelli for the Haves on how to hold power. Rules for Radicals is written for the Have-Nots on how to take it away".[1]
Outlining his strategy in organizing Alinsky writes:
"There's another reason for working inside the system. Dostoevski said that taking a new step is what people fear most. Any revolutionary change must be preceded by a passive, affirmative, non-challenging attitude toward change among the mass of our people. They must feel so frustrated, so defeated, so lost, so futureless in the prevailing system that they are willing to let go of the past and change the future. This acceptance is the reformation essential to any revolution. To bring on this reformation requires that the organizer work inside the system, among not only the middle class but the 40 per cent of American families – more than seventy million people – whose income range from $5,000 to $10,000 a year [in 1971]. They cannot be dismissed by labeling them blue collar or hard hat. They will not continue to be relatively passive and slightly challenging. If we fail to communicate with them, if we don't encourage them to form alliances with us, they will move to the right. Maybe they will anyway, but let's not let it happen by default."[2]
For Alinsky, organizing is the process of highlighting whatever he believed to be wrong and convincing people they can actually do something about it. The two are linked. If people feel they don’t have the power to change a situation, they stop thinking about it.
According to Alinsky, the organizer — especially a paid organizer from outside — must first overcome suspicion and establish credibility. Next the organizer must begin the task of agitating: rubbing resentments, fanning hostilities, and searching out controversy. This is necessary to get people to participate. An organizer has to attack apathy and disturb the prevailing patterns of complacent community life where people have simply come to accept a situation. Alinsky would say, “The first step in community organization is community disorganization.”
The Larsen campaign has chosen to demonize those who have strongly criticized his representation of them for the past 2 years (more for some such as I) for votes which were in opposition of those he purports to represent.  Congressman Larsen was asked what his constituents had communicated to him on Health Care Reform.  Congressman Larsen’s reply that the comments were “No and Hell No!”  So, now that Congressman Larsen is reaping that which he sowed with his voting record; he has nothing positive to run on, so his campaign has chosen instead to smear Mr. Koster to try to make himself look better in the eyes of the public.  Good luck with that one soon-to-be-ex-Congressman Larsen.

Washington State August 17, 2010 Primary Results

The votes are in and the work has just begun.  Now it’s time to get behind the candidate of your choice and bring them across the finish line.  Even if your primary candidate didn’t make it to the general election in November, YOU need to educate yourself on the remaining candidates and help get them elected.  They need money, but most of all they need US not to stay silent and expect that everyone is as involved as you are.  Get out there and doorbell, participate in a Get-Out-the-Vote reminder call, put out signs in support of your candidate or help to find property to put them up, have a neighborhood coffee, write letters to the local newspaper editorial, blog, facebook and tweet.  If you have other thoughts on creative ways to spread the word, you can be part of the solution, too!
