OBAMA signs renewal of Foreign Surveillance Law

Isn’t he a peach!  The most transparent administration has gone black to avoid the limelight of his (and Congress’ s) traitorous actions.  Not to mention they reauthorized the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), without any partisan complications.

OBAMA SIGNS RENEWAL OF FOREIGN SURVEILLANCE LAW

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama has signed into law a five-year extension of the U.S. government's authority to monitor the overseas activity of suspected foreign spies and terrorists.

The warrantless intercept program would have expired at the end of 2012 without the president's approval. The renewal bill won final passage in the Senate on Friday.

Known as the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, the law allows the government to monitor overseas phone calls and emails without obtaining a court order for each intercept.

The law does not apply to Americans. When Americans are targeted for surveillance, the government must get a warrant from a special 11-judge court of U.S. district judges appointed by the Supreme Court. Click here to read the full story.

NDAA Indefinite Detention Bill Passes Senate After Rand Paul Calls It An 'Abomination'

The Senate passed a version of the National Defense Authorization Act that was stripped of a prohibition of the indefinite military detention of US citizens on American soil by an 81-14 vote on Friday, but only after a furious dissent on the chamber's floor by Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), who called it an "abomination."

The National Defense Authorization Act of 2013 will now head to the White House, which had earlier pledged to veto the NDAA because it prevents the president from closing the Guantanamo Bay detention camp. It is unclear whether the president will follow through on the threat.  Click here to read the full story.

Your Free Speech Has Been Abridged!

Last Thursday (March 9, 2012), the President signed a bi-partisan bill HR347, giving the federal government the ability to make it a felony to violate “No-Free Speech Zones”.  This bill will allow them to make “No-Free Speech Zones”!  Has this occurred because Washington D.C. is expecting a lot of push back in 2012 for the actions that they have taken to disregard their pledge to protect and defend the Constitution by the vocal Tea Party groups, who protested peacefully and left the protest areas cleaner than they found it?  Or, is it because they fear the public display’s coming from the “Occupiers”?  The President and many of the members of the House and Senate, publicly supported the Occupiers demands?  Why would they try to shut us out?

If you have an opinion, I would be happy to post it here, but please contact your local representatives and local media to spread word on how they have silently abridged your 1st Amendment rights!

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Time to contact your federal/state/local representatives to express your opinions on this unfortunate, anti-Constitutional bill.

Tea Party proposes Budget for US Senate; Schumer & Reid shut them off

Yesterday, FreedomWorks.org had scheduled a hearing for the United States Senate to address the work done by members of FreedomWorks.org.  They requested this hearing to propose cuts for the Federal budget that would receive support from Tea Party supporters, nationwide.  There were $9.7 trillion dollars in cuts proposed, for the U.S. Senate to consider.  This hearing was shut down by Senator Schumer (D-NY)and Senate Speaker Harry Reid (D-NV).  They wouldn’t even allow “the People”, who had traveled from afar, to present their finding to the Senate, at the seat of “the People”.

Senator Lee (R-UT) led the group to a nearby facility at Hillsdale College, where they were then able to speak to the Senators who walked with the FreedomWorks.org group, and listen to the presentation being brought forth by “the People”.

Please enjoy this short video of what happened there and I encourage you to follow the link to their proposed cuts and see for yourself, how easily the Federal government could get our fiscal house in order if they only had the principles to do so.

Every Day We Hear…

Daily we hear how “Corporations” are flush with money.  Daily we hear how “Corporations” are moving their operations offshore.  Daily we hear how “Corporations” are just hanging onto their cash.  The YouTube video below gives a glimpse of why and how the markets are going global with the help of U.S. policy and our local politicians.  Time to ask your representative; Is this what “Sustainable Development”, means?  Sus Devp (small)

Shifting the Winds for 2012

With all conversations between the Independents, Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, Green Party, Socialist Party, Communist Party, et al…where have we heard anyone speaking out against Agenda 21 for Sustainable Development, ICLEI, Local Governments for Sustainability, the United Nations Wildlands Project or Project 60?  We can elect the same politicians or we can elect all new politicians, but we will not cure what ails the United States of America until we address the erosion of the protections guaranteed the United States citizen’s under our Constitution, unless we get the politician’s and the voters to talk openly and honestly about this issue.

Some have told me that this sentence; “Sustainable Development is stealing the American Dream”, will be vilified as the “White Man’s Dream”.  Has the American Dream been only the dream of the white man?  I do not believe that statement is true. The American Dream is not a dream of a house, home, 2.5 children and a white picket fence for me.  The American Dream for me is all about Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Property (happiness), where each individual can guide the path of their own life and achieve as much or little as they choose to work for.  These are the civil liberties that must be guarded for all U.S. citizens and the future citizens of a great country that offers the great dream, the American Dream.

What do you think? Is the American Dream only the white man’s dream?  Or, is it a vision of success that is attainable to every man, woman and child, as long as we preserve and restore the protections afforded to all of us through the United States Constitution?

Does a free and unbiased press exist in America today?

You be the judge.  When confronted by a credentialed reporter asking what should be a simple yes or no answer, Senator Dick Durbin chose to have the reporter ejected from his press conference instead.  Is this why we have the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution to protect or prevent “free speech?”

2nd Amendment Jeopardized by U.N.

The pundits are busy informing us of everything “Weiner”, but running under the radar as with everything they’ve done for the past 2 1/2 years, the Obama Administration is pushing for the Senate to ratify a U.N. treaty that puts the U.S. Constitution’s 2nd Amendment rights in full jeopardy.  This treaty is known as “UN The Small Arms Treaty”, which is not a friend of our 2nd Amendment.  Time to share this one and let “your” Senator know what you think of this dishonest attempt to subvert that which they were elected to support and defend.

It may not come as surprising news to many of you that the United Nations doesn’t approve of our Second Amendment. Not one bit. And they very much hope to do something about it with help from some powerful American friends. Under the guise of a proposed global “Small Arms Treaty” premised to fight “terrorism”, “insurgency” and “international crime syndicates” you can be quite certain that an even more insidious threat is being targeted – our Constitutional right for law-abiding citizens to own and bear arms.

American gun owners might not feel besieged, but they should. This week, the Obama administration announced its support for the United Nations Small Arms Treaty. This international agreement poses real risks for freedom both in the United States and around the world by making it more difficult - if not outright illegal - for law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms.

Senate to Legislate Alternative Media Out of Existence?

With the 2012 campaign season just starting to wind-up, here’s the latest attempt by politicians (specifically the Senate side) to de-connect those of us who want to get our news someplace other than through the MSM celeb’s.  Start here and finish-up with the full story to keep up with their “under the radar” attempts to shut down free and unfettered news.

Senators Want To Put People In Jail For Embedding YouTube Videos

from the not-understanding-the-technology dept

Okay, this is just getting ridiculous. A few weeks back, we noted that Senators Amy Klobuchar, John Cornyn and Christopher Coons had proposed a new bill that was designed to make "streaming" infringing material a felony. At the time, the actual text of the bill wasn't available, but we assumed, naturally, that it would just extend "public performance" rights to section 506aof the Copyright Act.
Supporters of this bill claim that all it's really doing is harmonizing US copyright law's civil and criminal sections. After all, the rights afforded under copyright law in civil cases cover a list of rights: reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works or perform the work. The rules for criminal infringement only cover reproducing and distributing -- but not performing. So, supporters claim, all this does is "harmonize" copyright law and bring the criminal side into line with the civil side by adding "performance rights" to the list of things.
If only it were that simple. But, of course, it's not. First of all, despite claims to the contrary, there's a damn good reason why Congress did not include performance rights as a criminal/felony issue: because who would have thought that it would be a criminal act to perform a work without permission? It could be infringing, but that can be covered by a fine. When we suddenly criminalize a performance, that raises all sorts of questionable issues.
Furthermore, as we suspected, in the full text of the bill, "performance" is not clearly defined. This is the really troubling part. Everyone keeps insisting that this is targeted towards "streaming" websites, but is streaming a "performance"? If so, how does embedding play into this? Is the site that hosts the content guilty of performing? What about the site that merely linked to and/or embedded the video (linking and embedding are technically effectively the same thing). Without clear definitions, we run into problems pretty quickly.

Washington Senators Make End Run Around I-1053–“No New Taxes w/o Super Majority Vote in WA State”

A bill up for consideration is SB 5944 which would allow State Legislators to remove tax incentives and credits by simple majority.  On its face this sounds appropriate enough if you do not consider the removal of incentives and credits as a tax increase.

Look over the bills and tell your representatives your thoughts on this end run to increase taxes in the State of Washington.

Senate Republican “Mike Lee” Defends the Tea Party

After all the dust has settled.  After continuing resolution, after continuing resolution.  After all the fear mongering and mud slinging.  After both the US Congress, US Senate and the Obama Administration are done strutting their stuff for cutting $38bil from a $14tril deficit.  Who should really get the credit?  If not for the “Tea Party” movement, there most likely wouldn’t have been even this miniscule cut in federal spending.  If ever there was a reason for re-stating this years Whatcom County, Tea Party Rally for April 15th of, “We’re Not Going Away”, this last cock and bull of a budget fight was it!

March Madness in Washington D.C.

It’s time for the citizens of the United States to demand that their elected representatives of this Great Country get a grip and implement fiscal sanity into the U.S. Federal Government at all levels. This posting is a wake-up call from those in-the-know about the fiscal insanity that is currently taking place with ‘our’ precious human resources, productivity and tax dollars.

March Madness: U.S. Gov't Spent More Than Eight Times Its Monthly Revenue

Monday, April 04, 2011
By Terence P. Jeffrey

Erskine Bowles

(CNSNews.com) - The U.S. Treasury has released a final statement for the month of March that demonstrates that financial madness has gripped the federal government.

During the month, according to the Treasury, the federal government grossed $194 billion in tax revenue and paid out $65.898 billion in tax refunds (including $62.011 to individuals and $3.887 to businesses) thus netting $128.179 billion in tax revenue for March.

At the same, the Treasury paid out a total of $1.1187 trillion. When the $65.898 billion in tax refunds is deducted from that, the Treasury paid a net of $1.0528 trillion in federal expenses for March.

That $1.0528 trillion in spending for March equaled 8.2 times the $128.179 in net federal tax revenue for the month.

The lion’s share of this federal spending went to redeem Treasury securities that had matured during the month—most of which were short-term Treasury bills that have terms of one-year or less.

In fact, during March the Treasury redeemed $705.3 billion in Treasury securities of which $623.9 billion were short-term bills with a term of one year or less.

After the disbursements made to pay off the $705.3 billion in loans that came due in March, three of the other top four federal spending items for the month were entitlements programs. The other top item was payments to defense contractors.

The Treasury paid $49.8 billion in Social Security benefits in March, $47.4 billion in Medicare benefits, and $22.575 billion in Medicaid benefits. It also paid $37.9 billion to defense contractors.

To help pay off its $1.0528 trillion in monthly bills on only $128.179 in monthly tax revenue, the Treasury turned primarily to new borrowing. During the month, according to the Treasury statement, the government sold $786.5 billion in new securities. It also drew down its cash balance from $190.6 billion at the beginning of the month to $118.1 billion at the end of the month. It also reaped $18 billion from the sale of assets in the Troubled Asset Relief Program.

The federal government’s cash-flow situation was summed up pungently in Senate Budget Committee testimony by Erskine Bowles, who served as chief of staff to President Bill Clinton and is now the co-chair of President Barack Obama’s National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility. (See video below.)

“I'm really concerned,” Bowles told the committee last month. “I think we face the most predictable economic crisis in history. A lot of us sitting in this room didn't see this last crisis as it came upon us. But this one is really easy to see. The fiscal path we are on today is simply not sustainable.

“This debt and these deficits that we are incurring on an annual basis are like a cancer and they are truly going to destroy this country from within unless we have the common sense to do something about it,” said Bowles.

“I used to say that I got into this thing for my grandchildren,” Bowles said. “I have eight grandchildren under five years old. I'll have one more in a week. And my life is wonderful and it is wild. But this problem is going to happen long before my grandchildren grow up.
